Trench Knife - More than Just a Warfare Weapon

Trench knife has been recognized as a historic knife. It is popular for its use during the First World War. It is a pure warfare weapon. 

However, not just a warfare weapon. There have been other uses of this knife as of late. 

Today, I will shed some light on the history of trench knives and their uses in the modern days. But, let’s begin with a small introduction of the knife. 


What is a Trench Knife?

Trench knife is a modern-day brass knuckle knife. It was first established during the First World War for the US soldiers. 

It is a combination of brass knuckle and knife. There is a knuckle duster that features a powerful blade attached to it. 

This makes it a deadly weapon. There is an advantage of 2 in 1 weapons. In modern days, we know such knives as brass knuckle knives

However, the earliest was the US 1918 Mark I Trench Knife. A replica of this knife is still available in the market. 


History of a Trench Knife

As mentioned above, the trench knife was first constructed during the First World War. 

Remember the soldiers were battling in the trenches. They required such a weapon that is handy in close quarter combat. 

The manufacturer established this knife and it was much needed for the US soldiers. 

Specifically, those battling in the trenches found these knives as very advantageous. They were impossible to disarm in close combat. 

They used it as their primary fighting weapons. During the Second World War, these knives became secondary fighting weapons. 

Today, these are called brass knuckle knives and are used for self defense, cosplay and decor purposes. 


Uses of a Trench Knife Today

- Self Defense

Trench knife is mainly used for self defense these days. Since it features two weapons at the same time, they become very useful in a self defense situation. 

You can use a knuckle duster for punching the attackers in the face. 

Then, you are allowed to use the blade to inflict more injuries. This is a deadly combination that ensures your survival against the attackers. 

Most importantly, when a brawl takes place between you and the attacker, you can’t be disarmed because you can wear the knuckles. 


- Collectible and Decor

Trench knife is a historical knife and enthusiasts love to have this in their collection in order to be called enthusiasts. 

If you are a real knife enthusiast, you must have this knife in your arsenal. It can be displayed in a display stand at your home or office. It is a nice collectible for decor. 


- Cosplay

Cosplayers love to use a trench knife as their cosplay weapon. At times, they need to play the roles of soldiers from the First World War. 

For this purpose, they can use these knives as to adopt the costume. 

Also, to replicate some badass characters on stage, this knife can be very handy. So, these are some of the important uses of the modern brass knuckles trench knife.
