Throwing Stars Explained - History, Uses & More!

Throwing stars are popular tools or weapons quite commonly used nowadays for different purposes. These are shaped like real stars. They have a few edges on them that actually work as powerful weapons. 

There are steel stars, foam stars and many others depending on the way they are destined to be used. Also called ninja stars or shuriken, these stars have a great history behind them. 

Also, they offer plenty of uses. Today, I have come up with a little explanation of these stars. Let’s explore the history and uses of throwing stars! 


History of Throwing Stars

Throwing stars were first used by the ninja, the ancient Japanese warriors. They used them as tactical weapons during wars. Since they had a few deadly edges on them, they could cause serious injuries. 

They were thrown on the heads of the enemies to injure their heads. Also, they were embedded in the ground to injure the feet of their enemies stepping on them. 


Uses of Throwing Stars

- Sporting Uses

The most popular use of throwing stars is to play a throwing sport. This is like a knife throwing sport. A wooden target is constructed and the stars are thrown on target. With sharp edges on these stars, they are able to stick into the wooden target. 

- Combat

Throwing stars are also used for combat these days. History suggests that these are real combat and warfare weapons. Hence, these are warfare collectibles for the modern enthusiasts as well. So, if you are a real enthusiast, you must have these collectibles combat weapons in your arsenal.

- Self Defense

Throwing stars serve as real self defense weapons as well. You can use these stars to deal with  the attackers You need to throw them at the attackers who are approaching towards you. Throw them at greater pace if you want to injure the attackers. Also, learn how to throw them accurately. 

- Cosplay & Costume

Throwing stars are also used as cosplay weapons. Specifically, the cosplayers who want to dress up as the ninja warriors often use these stars as their cosplay costumes or weapons. You would also see people using these stars as a part of their costumes on Halloween!
